The Sound of Lempäälä 2017

Master courses in early music, voice and piano

The Sound of Lempäälä festival celebrates it's 19th anniversary this summer. During the festival period, there will be master courses for various instruments including about 20 concerts given by the artists in the Lempäälä region.

During the summer courses there will also continue the traditional Forum-event, where young Russian, Belarussian, Lithuanian and Ukrainian master students and their professors give concerts and keep seminars and competitions during one week.

At the master courses, the piano teachers will be Professor Erik T. Tawaststjerna and Dr. Hui-Ying Liu-Tawaststjerna from the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki. Regina Glazunova, St. Petersburg, will hold the young students' piano course. Professor Seppo Ruohonen will be teaching voice, piano accompanist is Tuuli Takkala.

Debra Gomez-Tapio, Master of Fine Arts gives an early music course for singers. It is open to individuals and to ensembles. The focus will be on Baroque arias and recitatives; how to approach it vocally and stylistically. People who would like to work on other early music repertoire such as Medieval and Renaissance are also cordially welcome to come. At the same time, Janek Öller gives a course for recorder ensembles; it is as well open for individuals. The accompanist for both courses will be Ilpo Laspas (organ, harpsichord). Ilpo Laspas gives also a course for players of harpsichord.

At the same time with the Early Music course, there will be an International Rotary Summer Camp, Music on the lakeside, given by Kay Stonefelt, Distinguished Professor of Music Percussion from SUNY Fredonia, USA.

The highlights of the summer include all the solo or duo recitals given by the teachers and their master students.
